Tired but happy #silver fox, #dawn, #London, #over 50

I’m home in Australia after 3 weeks travelling. I left my cousin’s place in London at 5am Sunday after minimal sleep, and used taxi, train, plane, 3 travelators, plane, bus, & 2 cars to get here. It was by far the smoothest return journey I’ve ever had, and I know not why. Everything just flowed, for the entire 28hr door-to-door ordeal. We even landed 30 mins early from Singapore, which meant I could catch the earlier airport shuttle bus rather than sit around for 3 more hours (which would have felt like a slow torture at that stage).

I was deliriously happy to see my Australian sun setting:

But not as happy as my cat when he saw me!

He even woke me in the night purring and snuggling, but I didn’t mind. I felt the same. I missed him so much

But not as much as my BED. And pillow. I can’t begin to tell you how much I  missed my bed and pillow…

Son ’17’ is coming over this afternoon after school; I can’t wait to see him. And I’m sure after 3 weeks at his Dad’s, he’s super keen to be here, in the Land of “Full Fridge With Treats You Don’t Have To Share With 2 Annoying Younger Brothers”.

I’ve been to the Farmers Markets already to stock up on fresh veg and gourmet supplies; all I’m dreaming about eating is steamed organic produce with brown rice, as it’s been a fairly indulgent 3 weeks of French fare as you know HERE

So this is my last treat, before the Cleanse haha:

Hopefully it will help stave off the jetlag! Any tips for that?

It is SO SO SO GOOD TO BE BACK. I’m utterly thankful for the privilege and joy of my latest adventure, yet it’s definitely true that there’s No Place Like Home xxx

  1. When I flew from Sydney to Vancouver I pretty much slept for a week, on and off, and at the end I was just about synced with my new hemisphere. … and that brioche looks to die for. 😀

    • Oh the brioche was divine indeed 🙂
      Yes, am just about to head for a nana nap, but don’t want to sleep too long… Last year I felt weird/jetlagged for about 10 days; I sure hope it’s not the same this time

    Ooo tips for jet lag! After spending almost two years in South Korea, and returning from a week long trip to Scotland the day before university orientation, I have some tips for jet lag!

    1. Sleep on the plane – when the lights go down to fake night, sleep. It helps.
    2. Drink lots of liquids! Non-alcoholic ones. I prefer orange juice and water.
    3. Once off the plane, don’t sleep! Don’t nap, don’t lay down, don’t!! Wait until your regular bed time in your new time zone and then sleep.
    4. Set an alarm the next day – and don’t snooze it! Get up, have a regular day of activities.
    5. No napping the next day! By now you should be exhausted and one more good night’s rest will do it!
    6. If all else fails, be no more than 23 years old (oh how I wish!)

    • Such good tips, thank you! I do all of those… except here I am, 3.30am in Australia & I’m feeling pretty wide awake + starving hungry (tummy rumbling as I type!). Still, it’s only my 2nd day home… fingers crossed I’ll be there ok. Thanks so much for commenting 😊👍🏼

  3. Jet Lag tips that I have found that work – NOTHING 🙂
    I honestly think that if a person is prone to jet lag it is going to happen regardless, I travel from USA to Australia every year sometimes twice a year and the jet lag never fails me despite me trying absolutely every recommendation and piece of advise known to man… and woman!!
    I honestly think the best thing you can do is keep your fluids up (wine and beer is okay), try to stay awake during the day if at all possible so your body gets back to its correct time zone… Oh and eat chocolate, it cures everything!!
