Him [suddenly lunging at radio & turning it up loud]: I love this band!
Me [having heard only 2 notes of song]: Who’s this? And how did you know who it was so fast?
Him: Because it was the beat that says ‘This is totally this song’.

He and I would get along just fine! I am a “name that tune” champion and can usually identify a song within the first 3 notes or so.

That’s amazing L- I used to be a bit like that in high school, but there’s so much new music now, I can’t keep up haha- such an old lady! 😬

I’m like you with music of today but I can pick ‘Ain’t that a Shame’ by Fats Domino, after the first two notes from 500 meters away! 😀
