I’ve just one thing to share about Trump, the Time cover, Weinstein, #MeToo, & now Marriage Equality in Australia at last

  1. There is certainly something playful or even funny about it. As a political statement however, I object to the implied violence. I imagine that if the roles and topic were gender reversed, there would be a justified outcry against it.

    • Very true. But the symbolism is important: she IS a woman, & she IS smashing a word & glass, not a person. That is crucial for me. And the system of Patriarchy oppresses us all, female/male/inbetweeners. It represents a huge, deliberate, ongoing inequality… evidence of which we can see in all the topics I mention in my title. For how much longer do we put up with this crap?? Mama Earth herself needs to have the Patriarchy smashed, & Capitalism.
As ever, I appreciate your reading & commenting πŸ™πŸΌβ€πŸŒˆ

  2. I like it because it looks like she smashing her washing machine! I’d love to do that. I absolutely agree that patriarchy has to go for the sake of the planet and everyone on it.

    • Thanks Honey! It’s so good- it was such a shit process for so many Queer folk, & hurtful, but now we can move on equally (which of course we are anyway really); activist/actress Magda Szubanski deserves huge credit- have you read her book? It’s great 🌈❀

      • Book? … what book? … **scurries away to search the interwebz** … humph, no ebook for Canada … I’m going to suggest it to my library.

I remember Magda from the good old days of Big Girls Blouse, for some strange reason she always set off my gaydar and then she came out a few years ago!!! Gaydar for the win. πŸ˜€

        • Totally gaydar win, well done. She has really had a hard time… oh just read the book. You won’t be able to put it down. Now we just need to get her a girlfriend- she really wants to get married she says (Bless)

  3. Actions which follow rhetoric are appreciated even if not everybody wants to do something. Grace to those who walk the walk, talk the talk, and carry through even when it is more pleasant to dodge the bullet.

    • Yes indeed. I would never actually advocate violence… yet our resistance is becoming more urgent, for our species’ very survival πŸ™πŸΌ. Thank you for commenting, G

  4. A great day for decency in Australia. Wholeheartedly agree with your views on patriarchy too. And I am a straight man – just one who sees through the posturing macho bullshit and realises how how straight out of the school playground it really is.

    • Yes, exactly- any reasonably intelligent, honest, and empathetic man can see how we ALL suffer under this system; no way am I ‘man-bashing’; I have a glorious 17yr old son I adore, and so many lovely male friends, straight and gay. At this point in time, we all need to move beyond those ridiculous constructs which separate us, and get on with sorting out our environmental problems I believe… Thank you so much for reading, commenting, and just being YOU : ) G
